Guide Dogs for Visually Impaired and Veterans

January 2019 – We often donate our returned Shed Defenders to service dog owners who could benefit from the onesie but may have a tight budget. We donated one to a customer who then nominated Southeastern Guide Dogs as a potential Paw it Forward partner for us. As soon as we learned more about Southeastern Guide Dog’s mission, we were on board with making a donation and supporting their cause!

Southeastern Guide Dogs provides guide dogs to the visually impaired and our veterans who have PTSD or other disabilities. For the visually impaired, a guide dog provides a chance for self-sufficiency and a new best friend. For veterans, a guide dog provides the opportunity to expand their lives, regain mobility and independence and re-integrate into their communities. Sarah Leger is the customer who originally contacted us and she’s been fortunate enough to receive a couple guide dogs through the organization. Here’s what she had to say:

“They have changed my life with amazing guide dogs that guide and keep me safe; giving me freedom and independence that I didn't realize I had. They help many visually impaired individuals and also veterans through their guide dog and service dog programs. I am beyond thankful to them.”

Southeastern Guide Dogs is run solely on donations so we encourage you to learn more about them and donate if their cause tugs on your heart strings!
