October 2018 – This month our Paw it Forward partner is Love Bug Rescue and we chose this rescue because it’s right here in our backyard and it’s where one of our customer’s rescued her fur baby Coconut!

Coconut is a mixed breed who was rescued from Riverside, CA along with her brothers and sisters. Her litter came to Lovebug Rescue in Newport Beach and they were fostered for the first few weeks. Once she was 8 weeks old, Coconut found her permanent home. Her new mom Shanel fell in love and knew that Coconut was the perfect match for her. She came from humble beginnings, but now Coconut lives with her new parents in Newport Beach and enjoys walks on the beach, shopping at Fashion Island with her mom and lounging by the pool (she’s more of a sun bather than a swimmer though).

Coconut wears a size Mini Shed Defender to help her with anxiety because like other small dogs, she gets nervous occasionally, especially when mom’s not around. With her pretty purple Shed Defender on she feels calm and confident and ready to explore her new world!

Love Bug Rescue is a foster-based animal rescue located in sunny southern California and it’s focused on working with local animal shelters that are overpopulated to lessen the number of animals being euthanized unnecessarily. Founded in October 2010, by Heather Peterson, Love Bug Rescue depends on the wonderful work of its dedicated volunteers who take their time out of their personal lives to serve our mission. They strive to educate people on how serious this issue is and how easy it is to make a difference.

There are more dogs out there just like Coconut who need a forever home. Help spread the word about the great work that the Love Bug Rescue team is doing and scroll through their list of adoptables if you’re looking for your own love bug to rescue!

Coconut’s motto is “Some people call me a mutt, I like to say an original,” and we couldn’t agree more! Follow Coconut on Instagram here!
